Google Inc. has embarked on what may be its most ambitious and difficult science project ever: a quest inside the human body.

Called Baseline Study, the project will collect anonymous genetic and molecular information from 175 people—and later thousands more—to create what the company hopes will be the fullest picture of what a healthy human being should be.

The problem Latvian startup Helico Aerospace Industries has set out to solve is most homemade action sports videos rely on a camera, such as the GoPro, being strapped on your person or action sports equipment, providing mostly a POV shot only. But, with drone technology, it could be possible to democratise the kind of aerial videos previously the domain of expensive, professional shoots only.

Whatever happened to virtual world Second Life after the flurry of hype and influx of brands in 2005 and 2006? You don't hear much about it nowadays.
Actually, Second Life never went away; it was the media and brands that once flocked to it who melted away. The world's existing community of around 1m users carried on with their virtual lives much as they had before.

Google has unveiled a prototype smartphone with "customised hardware and software" that enables it to create 3D maps of a user's surroundings.

Sensors allow it to make more than 250,000 3D measurements every second and update its position in real time. Google said potential applications may include indoor mapping, helping the visually-impaired navigate unfamiliar indoor places unassisted and gaming.
